Having suffered with eye infections and dry eyes for 3 years I was referred by my GP and found Richard via the BUPA website. At first BUPA were reluctant to accept the procedures recommended by Richard but he took the time and trouble to speak with BUPA and secured an agreement. The resulting surgery has left me infection free and with a very natural look. I’m not a great patient but Richards manner was very calming and his surgery superb. Anna was a great comfort pre and post surgery and seemingly always on hand.

Richard Scawn saw me as an emergency patient at St John's & St Elizabeth's hospital in St Johns Wood. I presented with visual defects. Mr Scawn undertook a number of ophthalmology investigations and could have at that moment on finding that my eyes were not damaged sent me home to see if the symptoms got better. However, due to his tenacious, professional and kind approach he sent me for an immediate MRI which showed that I had had a stroke. There were a number of other concerning symptoms that he found and he took it upon himself to take full responsibility for all levels of my care outside of his own field as well as within his own filed and his intervention probably saved my life. Richard is in my view the best doctor I have ever had the privilidge to meet. I would just like to mention that his PA Anna was also incredible in the way she constantly checked up on me and pushed other specialists to check up on me as a matter of urgency and truly cared about me as a person.

I have had 3 sets of eye surgery all during various forms of lockdown (blocked tear duct and 2 eyelid lifts) by Richard Scawn and can confirm that it is like shopping in Waitrose, excellent care and results and bedside manner, such a pleasant experience. His new assistant Manvi Sobti, like Adriana before, will be equally successful and superbly well trained and groomed. What teams he develops using ideal delegation.

I had been discussing having my drooping eyelids done for a few years – the skin was coming over my eyes especially when reading, to the point that my eye would close & I’d fall asleep... and eye make-up was a waste of time – no eyelid. Eventually I plucked up courage to go ahead with it and my optician referred me to Richard Scawn. When I first saw him, he completely put me at ease, he listened to me and advised me on how we could proceed. I had the surgery at the Hospital of St John & St Elizabeth & the team looking after me there were excellent. Richard greeted me like an old friend, was very reassuring and made me feel confident I’d made a good decision. Despite looking slightly battered after surgery (hardly surprising) the results now are brilliant. I smile whenever I look in the mirror and wish I’d had it done years ago. My only complaint is that I’ve now had to relearn to apply eye make-up as I now have 2 lovely eyelids to show off!! As an additional bonus, Anna, Richard’s PA and nurse, is amazingly efficient and knowledgeable – it was a relief to be able to call her with questions, especially after surgery. Finally, it is a pleasure to recommend Richard Scawn and of course Anna as they make a terrific team and have made me feel so much better about my appearance. If I needed any other ophthalmic treatment or advice, I would certainly contact them immediately.
